Bomber Technology Readiness
Fighter aircraft programs have pushed advanced avionics, stealth materials, and engines to high technology readiness levels. IRIS Independent Research conducted analysis for the Air Force demonstrating that American companies could achieve first flight of a new prototype manned or unmanned long-range bomber by 2018.
Securing Airbases
Joint forces overseas rely on secure airbases for uninterrupted flow of supplies, combat aircraft operations, and medevac. That’s why IRIS Independent Research staff and consultants briefed the Chief of Staff of the Air Force on innovative concepts for "outside the wire" operations, organization, and training for the Air Force’s 35,000-person security forces who are responsible for defending airbases against terrorist and other ground attack overseas.
Energy Security
Energy security has become a national priority, and the Obama Administration is focusing efforts on a Smart Grid for electricity transmission. IRIS Independent Research authored two reports for a non-profit client on the future of Smart Grid and its implementation challenges, including cybersecurity, new transmission line plans, and consumer trends.
5th Generation Fighters
The Air Force’s F-22 Raptor is the world’s best stealth fighter, but like all systems, it has to be kept combat-ready. IRIS Independent Research recently led an expert group of staff and consultants to outline options for sophisticated maintenance and technology refresh plans for the F-22.
